Support for Life’s Challenges in Hereford

Life brings all of us moments where we feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from ourselves. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to carry it alone. I offer a warm, non-judgmental space in Hereford to explore what’s going on for you, and to understand it in the context of your wider life and history.

Working relationally and psychodynamically means we pay attention not just to the difficulty itself, but to what it means for you, where it may have come from, and how it shows up in your relationships — including the one between us. This kind of understanding can bring real and lasting change, rather than simply managing symptoms.

Some of the areas I work with include:

Anxiety and worry that feels constant or hard to explain, panic, or a sense of dread that doesn’t seem to match what’s happening around you.

Low mood and depression, including feeling flat, numb, or disconnected from things that used to matter to you.

Relationship difficulties, whether with a partner, family member, friend, or colleague — including patterns that keep repeating.

Low self-esteem and self-worth, self-criticism, or a persistent sense of not being good enough.

Grief and loss, including bereavement, and losses that are harder to name, like the loss of a relationship, identity, or way of life.

Life transitions, such as becoming a parent, changing career, retirement, or any period where the ground feels like it’s shifting.

Stress and burnout, particularly when it’s affecting your health, relationships, or ability to function day to day.

Trauma and its longer-term effects — you can read more on my dedicated trauma page.

If what you’re experiencing isn’t listed here, please don’t let that stop you getting in touch. Many people come to therapy without a clear label for what they’re feeling, and that’s a perfectly good place to start.

How counselling can help

Together, we’ll take the time to understand what’s happening for you, at a pace that feels manageable. There’s no pressure to have the right words from the outset — part of the work is finding them. Sessions are confidential, and the relationship between us is central to the process: a consistent, trustworthy space in which old patterns can be noticed, understood, and gently changed.

Getting started

If you’d like to talk about whether counselling could help, please get in touch — I offer an initial conversation to see whether we’re a good fit to work together.
